Can You Drink Alcohol on TRT? What Men Should Know

Alcohol and testosterone interact in ways that matter for your liver, your estrogen, and your results. Here is the honest take.

There is no absolute rule that you cannot drink alcohol on TRT, but the two interact in ways worth understanding before you mix them.

Alcohol can lower testosterone production on its own and raise estrogen by increasing aromatization — the conversion of testosterone to estradiol. Heavy drinking also stresses the liver, which is relevant because your liver processes hormones and any oral medications in your protocol.

Moderate drinking is something to discuss with your provider, not a reason to avoid TRT. The bigger pattern matters more than any single drink: chronic heavy drinking works against the goals of therapy. Your provider considers your alcohol use as part of your full history.
